Audio Monitoring For World Cup Coverage

May 2006

Audionics have supplied Gearhouse Broadcast with custom designed monitoring systems, as part of their technical facilities for this summer's World Cup Finals.

They will form part of the BBC's technical facilities at the IBC (International Broadcast Centre) in Munich and the BBC studio in Berlin.

The systems are based around the Audionics MCX2 audio router and custom designed loudspeaker monitor units. The 24x8 analogue router has been modified to enable simple wiring to up to eight loudspeaker units via standard Cat5 data cabling.

The self powered loudspeaker units have an alphanumeric display module to enable the operator to select one of the 24 audio sources. A 10W internal amplifier provides both loudspeaker and headphone monitoring.
