Broadcast equipment manufacturer Audionics, have recently supplied 32 custom built workstation mixers to ITN Radio. The mixers enable journalists to create and edit material at their desktops together with a newly installed Dalet digital audio software. The contract arose after the ITN's decision to consolidate all of their various radio operations which include Independent Radio News (IRN), LBC News Direct and the newly launched ITN Radio News, which broadcasts on the Digital One multiplex. Audionics had previously supplied London News Radio with extensive audio routing and workstation facilities for their LBC News Direct operation. For the new system Derek Cole, Chief Engineer, had a specific goal in mind. Previously they had used the popular WM85 workstation mixer, but he contacted Audionics with a proposed redesign to meet his own requirements. Derek said "I have had a long working relationship with Audionics and have always been impressed by their custom design and build services. After presenting my ideas, they quickly provided drawings for approval and once the order was placed, the units were delivered in six weeks. The custom designed mixers proved to be a cost effective solution to meet the exacting requirements of our journalists." |
